Nuit is the sky goddess of the Ancient Egyptians. Her arms form arches over the Earth, protecting it and nurturing its many children. The earth god, Nuit’s husband, stands below her, eternally trying to reunite with his beloved. They were separated at the order of Shu, the creator of the universe. The vault of the sky is the body of the Goddess and the stars are the emanation of her energy.
